Welcome to the New Look CDRA Website
Community Bunting Project 2012
The CDRA is organising a textile art project for 2012, our aim is to create lines of Bunting for use at the Village Fayre and other community led events in the village of Crawley Down. To create a piece of work that charts the history and people of the village.
The Bunting will be made out of donated fabrics to a template size and shape. Donations of items such as fabric, buttons, threads and ribbon would be appreciated. These do not need to be new but can be clean items of household textiles or clothing. In fact, the more personal to the individual or organisation the more interesting a story the Bunting will tell. Natural fabrics such as cotton or cotton mix are most suitable.
The CDRA is organising a number of Bunting Workshops in the village, you are invited to attend to make a Bunting Flag or share your knowledge and skills with others at the workshops. A team of people will be on hand to help with designing and making the flags which can be as simple and straight forward as cutting out your favourite piece of fabric. The workshops are free and open to all, whatever their abilities.
The next workshop is on Saturday 31st March 10 - 4pm Haven Centre. For further information contact Eileen Hill on 01342 716517 or email eileen@ashcorner.co.uk
The Annual General Meeting of the Crawley Down Residents Association will take place on Tuesday 1st May 2012 in the Oak Room at the Haven Centre.
We need younger people to get involved with CDRA if we are to continue with the traditions of the Village Fayre and the Christmas Event. Many of our older committee members are not as healthy as they used to be and we are finding it a problem to cover all the tasks. Membership of the CDRA costs just a minimum of £3 although you may contribute more if you desire. We need you to come on board.
The CDRA is organising a family picnic on the village green to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. It will take place on the Big Lunch day, Sunday 3rd June from noon to 4pm. The idea is that you bring your own food and drink and CDRA organises the entertainment. We hope to see lots of you there!

| 16/12/11 CDRA Christmas Event |
| Crawley Down Residents Association's Free Christmas Event will be held on Friday December 16 in the Village Centre outside the Royal Oak from 5.30pm. From 4pm the road will be closed outside the pub and access to Bowers Place will be from the war memorial end of Station Road.
This year's attractions will include the Crawley Down Ladies Choir who will be singing carols, a magician, free mulled wine and mince pies, a raffle and for children up to 9 years there will be a Santa's Grotto with free presents. Food will be available from the Royal Oak and a live band will be playing later inside the pub.
This event is very much governed by weather conditions because if the roads are icy it would not be safe to have people in the road and with this scenario we would move indoors.
You will be able to renew or take out membership of the CDRA at the Christmas event. Alternatively application forms are available from Treasurer Colin Ward on 01342 716945, from the delicatessen or from http://cdra.crawleydownvillage.co.uk/membership.php. Membership costs just £3 a year and it supports the CDRA , which supports village organisations and events.
The Crawley Down Residents Association Committee wishes all residents a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. |
